Vietnamese ONE Championship, Martin Nguyen, will join the Korean boxer Kim Jae Woong at the One: TNT 2 event on April 14. One: TNT is a special event, taking place in the US time so Vietnamese audiences will have to base on the morning of April 15 to watch Martin's match live.
Updated on his personal page, Martin Nguyen shared a picture of the upcoming match, and also added the comment line that refers to he will “kill” the Korean opponent on the floor: “On April 14, he is finished”.
This was Martin Nguyen's first match after he lost the Featherweight championship in the hands of a compatriot of Le Le by Knock -Out in the second half. Kim Jae Woong is said to be a rather unexpected choice from Martin Nguyen – before, both Martin and CEO ONE Championship Chatri SityODTONG left the possibility of Martin coming back immediately to remunerate the pear.
Currently, Kim Jae Woong is being ranked 5th in the Featherweight class of One Championship. In the last match at One: 'Big Bang' Part II in December 2020, Jea Woong defeated Tetsuya Yamada, pulling his achievement at One Championship to 2 wins 1 loss. Most worth mentioning, Jea Woong lost to the hands of Koyomi Matsushima, and Matsushima himself once tasted defeat by Martin Nguyen.
Confronted with Martin Nguyen – who used to dominate the Featherweight for nearly 3 years, Kim Jae Woong was rated as a lower door. However, with the advantage of powerful kicks, Jae Woong may also have a basis for confidence.
As for Martin Nguyen, he said that his far goal was to regain the championship from Thanh Le. Thanh Le is most likely not to return to play in the first half of 2021 by the responsibility of being a father, so Martin's choice of an opponent while waiting for the belt competition is probably also an accurate decision.
The One On TNT Part II event will take place in Singapore. Currently only 3 matches of this event are announced:
Christian Lee (C) vs. Timofy Nastyukhin (Lightweight Championship)
Martin Nguyen vs. Kim Jae Woong (Featherweight)
Kickboxing: Wondergirl Fairtex vs. Amber Kitchen (Strawweight)
