At ASBC's latest abnormal meeting, this unit conducted a voting to collect membership about joining the World Boxing. ASBC currently has 51 members, but only 36 countries and territories among them attended the voting meeting, including the representative of Vietnam.
The voting results of ASBC showed 15 votes, 21 rejection votes and 1 invalid votes. With this result, ASBC continues to hold IBA membership and does not join the World Boxing. Not long after the draw results appeared, ASBC chairman resigned at IBA.
Commenting on ASBC's voting results, IBA said: “We welcome this decision to democracy from ASBC, when most members still want to stick with IBA. The results reflect IBA's contribution over the years, for Boxing development worldwide.
ASBC's voting decision is made based on democratic spirit, attaching importance to member states. The majority chose to continue to stick with IBA, and we support this. IBA is committed to continuing to support the National Federation of Members by action, not words. “
Also in the statement from IBA, they said they had enough resources to develop boxing around the world. IBA did not forget to remind a detail: many members joined the World Boxing because of the political engine. This is also something that can greatly affect the world boxing in the future.
“We are aware that the Olympic Committee of the countries are under pressure from the IOC. They have to perform political activities in their country, thereby creating pressure on the National Boxing Federation to abandon IBA.
