Today (November 30), the Asian Boxing Championship 2024 officially took place. The initial tournament is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan. But with the complex situation in the Middle East, the Asian Boxing Federation (ASBC) pulled the tournament to the organization in Thailand.
Based on the schedule from ASBC, the Vietnamese boxing team has sent 9 fighters to attend. These are all female boxers, competing in 9 different weight classes. Besides veteran faces Ha Thi Linh and Luu Diem Quynh, Boxing Vietnam also has a number of newly tried boxers at the international playground.
List of Vietnam boxing team members competing at the Asian boxing championship 2024:
– Ngo Ngoc Linh Chi (Hanoi), weight of 48kg female
– Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran (Can Tho), weight of 50kg female
– Tran Thi Kim Chi (Can Tho), weight of 52kg female
– Ngo Thi Mai Chuc (Hanoi), weight of 54kg women
– Nguyen Huyen Tran (Tien Giang), weight of 57kg women
– Ha Thi Linh (Hanoi), weight of 63kg women
– Nguyen Thu Trang (Hanoi), weight of 66kg women
– Hoang Ngoc Mai (Hau Giang), weight of 70kg women
– Luu Diem Quynh (Hanoi), weight of 75kg women
According to the official letter from the Department of Physical Training and Sports, funding for boxers to attend the Asian Boxing Championship 2024 was paid by localities. Some national championships of Boxing Vietnam are named in the preliminary list, but cannot participate in the competition including Nguyen Thi Tam, Vo Thi Kim Anh, Do Thi Trang.
In addition to the three faces above, 2 fighters are the defending national champion but not on the list of summons to international competitions, Le Hai Au (An Giang, 52kg female) and faithful to My An (military, 57kg female). Therefore, the Vietnam boxing team coach must adjust personnel to suit the existing people:
– Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran competes in the weight class of Nguyen Thi Tam
– Tran Thi Kim Chi competes in Le Hai Au's weight
– Ngo Thi Mai Chuc plays the weight of Vo Thi Kim Anh
– Nguyen Huyen Tran played the weight class of My An faithful
– There are no boxers playing the weight of Do Thi Trang
– Ha Thi Linh plays 63kg of women, over 1 class compared to when attending the Olympic Games (60kg female)
