In 2024, the Vietnamese women's boxing team practiced at 2 locations. The first group consists of 5 athletes Nguyen Thi Tam, Vo Thi Kim Anh, Ha Thi Linh, Luu Diem Quynh and Nguyen Thi Huong. They practice at the Hanoi Senior VV Training Center, and recently transferred to the Nhon Center.
The second group of the team has 12 athletes, practicing at the National Sports Training Center in Ho Chi Minh City. The three athletes of them are now trained to Thailand. These are Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran, Hoang Ngoc Mai and Nguyen Huyen Tran, and coach Pham Thanh Hai.
At the first Olympic qualifying round, Hoang Ngoc Mai and Nguyen Huyen Tran attended but lost to the match. They are likely to continue to be selected to attend the second qualifying round.
Ngoc Tran, Ngoc Mai and Huyen Tran were summoned to the National Boxing team after the National Boxing Championship 2023 closed. Ngoc Tran is the reigning runner -up of 50kg women's weight. The defending champion in this weight class is Nguyen Thi Kim Sang (An Giang) but is not called to recruit.
Similar to Ngoc Tran, Nguyen Huyen Tran is also the reigning national runner -up. In the 57kg weight class, she lost to Nguyen Thi Thanh Hao (Ho Chi Minh City) in the final of the National Boxing Championship 2023. Hoang Ngoc Mai won the 70kg weight championship as the athlete of Ba Ria Vung Tau team, but in the decision to summon the recruitment, she belonged to Hau Giang unit.
