Not long after the World Boxing Championship 2023 closed, boxer Nguyen Thi Tam and his teammates returned home. Sharing on television, the current world runner -up said she had a dense schedule ahead. In the next few days, Nguyen Thi Tam will train before the 32nd SEA Games.
“To be honest, I felt the interview was even more shaky than when I was playing. I was a small person, somewhat shy, so I was quite afraid to sit in front of the camera lens,” Nguyen Thi Tam shared. But contrary to the image of a quiet girl, the boxer born in 1994 always played strongly on the stage.
Sharing about the opposite images of herself, Nguyen Thi Tam said that she was forged early. She was born into a difficult family, and had to leave home to practice boxing as a child. Those days helped female boxers born in 1994 overcome difficulties to succeed, especially when encouraged by coach and teammates.
Recalling the World World Boxing Championship 2023, Nguyen Thi Tam said that after defeating the first opponent, she got a lot of confidence. The more the inner round, the more comfortable the spirit of the 29 -year -old boxer. That helped her play better and better, because Nguyen Thi Tam had more motivation to try and decided to win all opponents.
However, Nguyen Thi Tam's full achievements had to stop in the final. She lost to the opponent of the Indian host by calculating the point after 3 rounds. Recalling the final, Nguyen Thi Tam said she felt quite regretful because she could not win to have a complete tournament.
“If I try a little more, and a little luckier, I could have been the champion. But I also felt very happy because after the match closed, many people came to congratulate and encourage me, including Indian audiences and colleagues, international friends,” Nguyen Thi Tam said.
