Sharing at the press conference before the UFC 308 event, President Dana White continued to show that the personal conflict between him and Ngannou was real. In the context of Ngannou has just won an impressive victory in PFL, White confirmed that the nunnou should have lost everything, if he strongly chased him from UFC since 2018.
“In 2018, I thought of chasing Francis (nunnou) from UFC. He lost 2 consecutive games (lost to Stipe Miocic, belt, and lost Derrick Lewis, class).
2018 is a difficult year for nunnou, when he constantly plays in a short time. The competition between nunnou and Miocic takes place only 6 weeks after he defeated Alistair Overeem. Ngannou did not have the best preparation, and then he had to enter the match with Lewis.
Interestingly, after 2 consecutive defeats, Ngunnou has a series of 4 consecutive victories to be eligible for belt. Cameroon fighters overwhelmed Miocic in the rematch in 2021, and won the knock-out in the second half. After that, he continued to protect the belt against Cyril Gane, then left UFC to reach the PFL.
Talking about the decision to leave UFC and to the nunnou's PFL, Dana White said: “Francis always wants to have money. He leaves UFC for fear of having to fight Jon Jones and lose.
