‘Boxing Vietnam at ASIAD 19 Expect on Van Duong and Phuoc Tung’

The South Vietnamese boxing team is rushing to practice and prepare for a foreign training trip that lasts nearly 1 month from July 8 to August 5. The location of the selected training trip is Uzbekistan – one of the strong countries about Boxing in the world. This is a very important training trip of Boxing Vietnam aimed at ASIAD 19 in China since the end of September.

Talking about the goal at ASIAD, Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung – the coach of the South Vietnamese boxing team shared with iThethao.vn: “Currently, the whole team has 5 boxers from 51kg to 80kg to prepare for ASIAD. In particular, Nguyen Van Duong and Bui Phuoc Tung are trusted by the coaching board as well as experts who can win the bronze medal for Vietnam at the Asian Games.”

“ASIAD is a major tournament of the continent, although we have prepared carefully but did not dare to talk about higher achievement goals,” he said.

Sharing more about the Uzbekistan training, Mr. Dung said: “In addition to Vietnam, 3 other countries also participated in Uzbekistan including: Russia, China and South Korea. We will arrange for the fighters to play friendly with your country on this trip.”

In addition to Nguyen Van Duong and Bui Phuoc Tung, 3 other male boxers participated in this training trip including: Nguyen Manh Cuong, Nguyen Minh Cuong and Vu Thanh Dat. In particular, Vu Thanh Dat is a new name added to the list. In order to close the list, the former coach of the CAND team said: “These are all the best boxers in Vietnam at the moment, there have been many achievements in the domestic and in the region. Your goal when you go to the team is to play internationally, bring glory to the nation, not to train again.”

The 19th Asian Games (ASIAD 19) is expected to take place from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou, China. ASIAD this year organizes 40 competitions including 61 subjects with 483 contents.
