According to the forecast information from the hydro -meteorological stations, the North and the South is in the peak of the summer. The highest temperature of the day can exceed 40 degrees C.
However, this time is the time when many Vietnamese teams are rushing to practice for major tournaments in the region, for example the Olympic qualifying round and beyond the SEA Games taking place later this year. It is not possible because the hot weather hinders the training process of the athletes, so each team must have its own plan to ensure the health of the athletes, and do not interrupt the practice time.
However, the proper training between the hot and humid weather typical of the Vietnamese climate is not a simple matter. Especially when the professional knowledge of most sports people is still quite sketchy to identify and handle conditions such as heat shock, heat stroke or exhaustion when practicing.
For antagonistic sports that require quite high intensity of training like Muay Thai or Boxing, the likelihood of heat shock is huge. Martial artist Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat shared about the difficulties of the boxers when they had to practice in the gym with the heat both on the stage, and the heat of the outside weather.
“The exercise under the hot weather will quickly be exhausted faster, easily dehydrated and the body's ability to escape heat is also impaired. Therefore, in the exercise process, supplements with sugar and vitamin C. This will help maintain energy during training and improve resistance.”
Currently, when the epidemic situation in our country is complicated, the movement to train the athletes has many problems, but the athletes still have to maintain training every day to maintain their physical strength and good health to be ready to participate in competition, including training in the peak hot weather to adapt to all weather conditions.
With the experience of playing many major tournaments both in the country and internationally, it must be practiced in the harsh weather every day, only has its own diet to ensure health in the training process between this peak hot weather.
“Nutrition before and after exercise is also very important, besides the daily diet, it is necessary to add fruits containing vitamins. Trying to improve physical strength over time is also important, because thermal shock often occurs with new practitioners, when the body is not adapted to harsh intensity and training environment.”
“In the case of heat shock, move the practitioner to a cool place, add a little water containing sugar and mineral substances. Can use wind oil rubbing into the palm of the hand and for the victim to smell, rest for 10 minutes, the situation will be improved,” Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat shared.
