Not long after its establishment, VMMAF attracted the Vietnamese martial arts fans with a series of big events. After the Vietnam MMA Cup program, which took place at the end of 2021, VMMAF held the MMA Vietnam Championship in 2022 with the name Lion Championship. Up to now, Lion Championship has played to the quarterfinals.

The Lion Championship 2022 semi -finals are scheduled to take place at the end of October in Hanoi. The final round of the tournament was planned to be held in Phu Quoc Island in January 2023, in order to avoid coinciding with the time of playing with the National Sports Festival, expected to take place in December 2012.
