One of the new Vietnamese Boxing referees in 2023 was the referee Vo Le Tam. He first participated in the National Boxing Championship 2023. At the National Boxing Championship 2023, referee Vo Le Tam continued to participate. He took on both positions of arbitration and scoring assessment.
The main job of Mr. Le Tam is currently a physical teacher at Dinh Bo Linh Primary School (Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City). He is also a movement boxing coach, training many athletes for Boxing Ho Chi Minh City in recent years. He was originally a mature athletes from Vo Quang Ngai, then went to Ho Chi Minh City to start a career.
When taking on the position of judgment, Mr. Vo Le Tam had the habit of bringing two index fingers to the front. The referee said that when the match started, he would use the knuckles to calculate the number of fighters of the martial artists. That helps him to calculate the number of punches in the most accurate way, not to get the match.
“The high achievement boxing law is based on the number of attacks, so the referee must accurately count each punch to be able to calculate the standard score. This is even more important in matches with a balanced battle position, where two boxers have a valid number of approximately each other,” Mr. Vo Le Tam said.
The appearance of new referees, such as Mr. Vo Le Tam, will help Boxing Vietnam to be able to expand its future activities.
