Probably UFC wants me to retire still not to compete for belt

At the present time, Beneil Dariush is ranked 4th in weight lightweight. Considering the hierarchy, Dariush is eligible for a UFC championship match, but that did not happen. With Islam Makhachev just played with Alexander Volkanovski, Dariush may have to wait a while longer.

Beneil Dariush has played for UFC for 9 years

Considered one of the most talented boxers of UFC at the moment, but Dariush has many difficulties in the match. He did not compete in the past half year, and had just finalized a match with Charles Oliveira. Both will compete at the UFC 288 event in May.

Not being scheduled as much as expected, unable to compete for the championship seemed to make Dariush unhappy. He shared on his personal page: “I think UFC is hoping I will retire because of my age without any championship battle,” the boxer was quite disappointed with what happened.

In case of winning against Charles Oliveira, Dariush will take a very long step on the journey towards a UFC championship match. But he will still have to wait more, because Makhachev seems to be ready to fight with Volkanovski in the near future. If Dariush lost, he would have to wait … for many more years.

At the age of 33, Beneil Dariush's professional MMA competition is 27 matches including 22 victories (5 no, 8 submission), 4 defeats and 1 draw. The last time Dariush lost took place 5 years ago, and he was having a series of 8 consecutive victories at UFC.
