Nguyen Van Duong started the 2nd qualifying round of Boxing Vietnam

As the last tournament to find out the boxers attending the Paris Olympic Games, the 2nd boxing qualifier will officially take place on 24/5. This tournament has 570 athletes. On the first day of competition, Boxing Vietnam has 2 representatives playing on the opening day. These are boxers Nguyen Van Duong and Hoang Ngoc Mai.

Nguyen Van Duong (57kg male weight) met Jean Carlos CaiCedo Pachito (Ecuador). Similar to Vietnamese representatives, Jean Caicedo attended the Tokyo Olympic Games and reached the quarterfinals. Nguyen Van Duong will play at 14h. This is also the first match of Boxing Vietnam in the second qualifying round.

In recent times, the performance of Nguyen Van Duong is gradually recovering. He continues to maintain the No. 1 position at national boxing tournaments. In the international playground, Nguyen Van Duong also played relatively well when attending the 32nd SEA Games, as well as the last European Games.

To prepare in advance the 2nd qualifying round of Olympic, Nguyen Van Duong and members of the South Vietnamese Boxing team have been trained in Thailand. This trip lasted for 2 weeks, to help the athletes recover, as well as achieve good shape. Therefore, Nguyen Van Duong is in high form.

After Nguyen Van Duong, Hoang Ngoc Mai (66kg weight) will meet Grainne Walsh (Irish Republic) in the evening of the same day. Grainne Walsh was a football player before switching to boxing. This boxer has won the bronze medal of the European Championship 2017, 2019.
