Steven Nguyen officially signed a contract with UFC at the end of 2023. This was the result after he defeated AJ Cunningham at the UFC fighter selection event named Dana White's Contender Series.
Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, USA. From an early age, Steven was allowed to study Taekwondo by his family when he was only 5 years old, thanks to his talent and passion for martial arts until the age of 13 to continue studying Jujitsu, to complete the skill set before embarking on the MMA path.
Steven Nguyen started playing professional MMA in 2016, “The Ninja” showed that he was a comprehensive boxer of the standing style and even lying. Steven's impressive victories took place in a very short time, but that did not mean that he was soon admitted by UFC.
Steven Nguyen has difficulty participating in the selection of boxers from Mr. Dana White. He “disappeared” after winning according to Rlayang in late 2021. It was not until 2 years later, at the 3rd competition, “The Ninja” had a golden ticket to write his name in the tournament.
Earlier, Cung Le was the first Vietnamese -born boxer for UFC. Thanh Le also participated in the qualifying round with an impressive but not chosen victory. After joining UFC, Steven Nguyen was silent for a long time, mainly “The Ninja” spent most of his time with relatives and family.
On March 24, Steven Nguyen will have the first match to launch UFC weight class featherweight at the event “UFC Fight Night: Ribas vs. Namajunas” against the Dutch boxer, Jarno Errens. The opponent of “The Ninja” is no less competitive when most of the victory comes from the Submission (5 wins, 1 loss) and by winning the opponent.
Compared to the overall two boxers in the upcoming match, the appearance and height between Steven Nguyen and Jarno Errens are very uniform, the only drawback of the Dutch boxer is to win by a pretty decision and very loss of strength. In contrast, “The Ninja” wants to beat quickly.
The most obvious evidence is statistics from Tapology, Steven plays 10 matches but has 9 wins (4 no/Tko, 3 submission, and 2 wins).
