WBO requires Anthony Joshua to protect heavy belt against Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua, WBO, IBF and WBA champions were arranged to face Fury – who holds the WBC belt – on August 14 in Saudi Arabia.

Unfortunately, Fury was asked by an American judge to fight Deontay Wilder for the third time before September 15 because the contract was not completed.

WBO said they sent a letter to Joshua's boss, Eddie Hearn on Thursday. The letter requires that in the next 48 hours, if Joshua could not agree with Fury, it would have to fight USYK.

On Saturday, Hearn asked WBO to extend but the request was rejected. Therefore, Joshua and USYK have until May 31 to reach an agreement for the match. Besides, WBO said or remuneration of the two boxers will be opened to see, opening up the process for any promotional to auction for the match.

If the remuneration of the bidding match, Joshua will receive 80% of the bid, while the former Cruiserweight champion absolutely usyk will receive 20%.

WBO said: “Such calculation is based on the average remuneration of the three most recent matches of each boxer,” WBO said, adding that the minimum bid will be $ 1 million.
