Woodley is a former semi -Chinese champion of UFC, but he was eliminated from the world's leading MMA championship after 4 consecutive defeats with the last match against Vicente Luque earlier this year. Instead of trying to re -export with UFC on a new contract, Woodley instead becomes a freelance martial artist and he decided to put his talent on the boxing floor. On August 29, Tyron Woodley will face Youtuber Jake Paul in his first professional boxing match.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference before the Woodley VS. Paul, the former UFC champion, confirmed that the match with Jake Paul was not the only one and Woodley plans to continue his boxing career.
“This is an opportunity for me to run water to Boxing. But I'm also preparing. I am preparing if I play with Canelo Alvarez. I am practicing like that right now,” Woodley said (via ESPN).
“I will fight the true boxing boxing and they will have a problem to be solved and that will be me,” Woodley said. “At the end of the day, I am participating in boxing right now. He is my first opponent. This is your first chance and everyone else to see me punching boxing.”
